OH SOLE MIO!!!

For those of you who think this is Venice, one word of advice: buy glasses! I know it does seem strange that I am standing on this gondola-like boat but those are just appearances. In fact, even the weather would put you off, as it is sunny (something you wouldn’t expect to see in England in October).
Still, this is the famous Cam river, and I am Punting. Punting is a centuries-old activity that has amused dozens of Cambridge student generations.
The main goal is to survive, by being able to stay on the boat for the duration of the journey. It looks easy, but it is not. I almost fell a couple of times.
Plus, for beginners such as myself, driving this boat is not the easiest of tasks. On the one hand, having only one pole (that stick I have in my hand), doesn’t help steering. On the other hand, my killer instincts make me drive the boat against others. I guess that if I knock other people off their boats, the river has a bit more room to manoeuvre.
I guess that the best and safest way to do it is having a friend doing it for you (eheheheh)
